This recipe from Grandma H. is a favorite of ours and very easy to make. You can substitute any kind of fruit for the cherries.
- 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 cups flour
- 1 can cherry pie filling (or any other fruit)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, and beat well. Add flour to the creamed mixture and combine well.
Spread two-thirds of the batter in a greased 9×13 pan. Spread pie filling over the top. Drop spoonfulls of the remaining batter on top of the pie filling.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
